On the morning of March 26, Chairman & President Zhang Shicheng and Deputy Party Secretary Pan Peikai of Weihai International Economic & Technical Cooperative Co., Ltd. (WIETC) met with a 5-member delegation led by Wang Jiabao, Party Secretary of the Tropical Crops Genetic Resources Institute (TCGRI) of Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences (CATAS). The two sides held talks on the joint operation of the Agricultural Technology Demonstration Center in the Republic of the Congo, and signed the Cooperative Agreement on Agricultural Technology Project in the Republic of the Congo.

        The Agricultural Technology Demonstration Center in the Republic of the Congo is a project funded by the Chinese government to implement the outcomes of the 2008 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. The center focuses on industrial fields such as cassava variety breeding and cultivation, cassava powder processing, chicken and swine feed processing and sales, laying hen breeding, live pig breeding, pasture improvement and mutton sheep breeding, high-yield vegetable cultivation and farmer training. TCGRI is the current operator of the center. After the conclusion of the agreement, WIETC will be entrusted to operate the center, which will further broaden its business range.
